Peter & the Test Tube Babies – “Cattle and Bum/Live in Manchester 1983” DVD Peter & the Test Tube Babies on DVD? Well, if they can release Extreme Noise Terror in this format… First half of this reissues the “Cattle & Bum” retrospective, featuring various live and promo clips from ’83-’92, almost half from their prime of’83 – ’85, with some “offstage” goofing around thrown in for good measure. The dreaded pixellization effect shows up here and there, fortunately not as everpresent here as on some other recent Cherry Red DVDs, but it does show up. The 1983 live show (from which 3 tracks were also used in “Cattle and Bum”) suffers from less-than-stellar picture quality (methinks the film stock wasn’t exactly well taken care of) with the occasional lines-across-the-screen effect, but it’s not terminal; while pixelization pops up from time to time it’s not too bad. Sound quality’s not pristine, but it’s serviceable, and the band is in good, high-spirited form caught on one of their better evenings.
