Iggy & the Stooges Live in Detroit 2003 DVD Souvenir of the Stooges homecoming, with Mike Watt filling in on bass, and the first album, Funhouse, and Skull Ring touched upon. While the superlativeness of the performance cant be denied, sometimes one would be hard-pressed to tell based on how this was filmed; there are a lot of quick edits which gets irritating after a while, especially when they cut away from Iggy in mid-Shaman-dance (its good they realize this is actually a band and not just Ig & backing hands, but they dont always know when to keep the camera put) and it gets pretty dark at times, with Ig seen only in silhouette more than once. Still, even if isnt always apparent by whats onscreen, this was definitely one of the concerts of the year, with the lads putting bands half their age to shame, and more than enough hints of same make it through to make this worth getting. And lets not forget the post-modern (post-apocalypse?) American Bandstand going down when Iggy eggs the audience into getting on stage and dance (and they do). Some good bonuses as well, such as an in-store appearance sans Watt (almost the polar opposite of the main single camera, shot from the side but its almost worth the price of admittance in of itself) and a Creem Gallery of Iggy pix from said mag.
