V/A Goth: The Ultimate Collection 2XDVD This is a reissue of the earlier Goth Box and Industrial Gothic Madness DVDs. As someone with not-so-closet Goth tendencies this seemed promising at first, but to be honest this is really weak. Many of the name groups are represented by subpar live footage, while too many of the others were shot by directors with little in the way of budget and/or clues (the former wouldnt matter so much if they werent lacking in the latter as well). There are some decent moments there (live Throbbing Gristle, Helios Creed, PTVs original Stones-footage version of Godstar) but most of these vids are so crap that they make me want to shred every bit of black clothing I have. Unless youre into sub-Ministry/Skinny Puppy wannabes or badly-deteriorated seminal outfits (e.g. Clock DVA) , avoid this like a vampire avoids the sun. David @ www.musicvideodistributors.com |
