BABY SUE says - "pure dose of heavenly pop music with wonderfully creative melodies and heartfelt sincerity. These two guys don't use studio tricks or gimmicks or anything out of the ordinary to create their music...but yet it just has that certain something that makes it stand out big time!"

sotl.gif (8k) Study of the Lifeless - untitled CD
SOTL are Adam and April from Soddy Daisy, Tennesee. They play the best drone-pop since My Bloody Valentine. Monstrous guitars dominate the picture, and at times the sound reminds the listener of a ten-handed organ with volcano-pipes. The guitars seem to move as large and slow waves, providing something chanting and ambient. This noisy and flowing sound forces the listener to become introverted, and very possibly involved in an experience concerning a stream of image-sequences. This must be what life is like at the bottom of the Pacific - if there is any.

calcutta.gif (14k) Foxymorons - "Calcutta"
Foxymorons are a Dallas duo whose self released "Silver Leaves" EP created quite a buzz. The press drew comparisons to Pavement, Guided By Voices, and Velvet Underground. The pair's sonic experimentation began with a found drum kit, and continued thanks to lovely patrons who generously lent guitars, amplifiers, drumsticks, tape players, and more, allowing the Foxymorons to develop their slightly skewed syntax for modern pop music.

Metalunas - "X-Minus-One"
The Metalunas, are Mark Brodie on guitar, Mike Cinnamon on bass, and Rod Moore on drums. The Metaluna's sound was influenced by the science fiction radio dramas of the 1940's and 50's, with lots of cheesy Farfisa organ backed by heavily reverbed surf guitar. Their first release, "X-Minus One", attempts to recreate the feeling from the period when science fiction was in its infancy. As well, you'll hear shades of other great surf pioneers such as Dick Dale, the Vulcanes, and the Surfaris in their music.
