As Friends Rust/Strike Anywhere Camden Underworld, London 16 November 2001 DVD Two American hardcore bands caught live in front of an appreciative London audience. As Friends Rust give up some post-(emo)hardcore Gainesville style (with releases on Doghouse Records) while Strike Anywhere do melodic but edgy hardcore (their releases can be found on Jade Tree) and are more impressive musically. Id say Strike Anywhere are more impressive musically, but both bands seem to give their all onstage instead of going through a glorified rehearsal. The production crew comes through as well with pretty good visual quality, decent sound quality, and multiple camera angles. The only real criticism I could make is that SAs singer REALLY needs to get rid of those fucking dreads, but otherwise this is a fairly high-quality release (especially compared to some of the other entrants in the punk DVD sweepstakes). Fans of the aforementioned hardcore styles should check it out. David @ www.punkervision.net |
